Los Alamos, Cal. Sep. 6, 2017/Best of Life PR/–Los Alamos hosts an annual celebration known as the Los Alamos Valley Old Days Celebration and this year is the 71st annual celebration. Today, the Los Alamos Valley Men’s Club, the organizers of the annual event have named Los Alamos Resident and community volunteer, Jim McCullar as the 2017 Los Alamos Valley Old Days Parade Grand Marshal.
Jim McCullar will be the Grand Marshal of the 71st annual Los Alamos Valley Old Days parade and celebrations as chosen by the LVAMC.
The Los Alamos Valley Old Days celebration is sponsored by the Los Alamos Valley Men’s Club (LAVMC). The LAVMC is a philanthropic organization that is dedicated to preserving the town’s history and unique western character. The celebration kicks off with a Friday night Chili Kick-off Party & Dance followed by a two-day Peddlers’ Mart & Artisan Faire, a car show, Saturday night “Happy Hour & Silent Auction” and Sunday morning’s “Greatest Little Small Town Parade.”
Jim McCullar, affectionately known around town as Big Pops, Papa Bear or Jimbo, was born in Upper Lake, California. In 1994, Jim moved to Los Alamos and he has lived there ever since. While in Los Alamos, Jim volunteered for LVAMC, Los Alamos Valley Grange, and helping at almost every community event for more than thirty years.
For employment, Jim works as a property and maintenance manager by area businessman Dan Thompson. Jim has also been married to his wife Sylvia Reasner since 2008 and they have four children together.
“I love the small town camaraderie here in Los Alamos and helping all the kids in the area.” Said Jim McCullar. “None of my success would have been possible without the relationship I had with my late father-in-law, Don Reasner. I dedicate my grand marshal honor to his memory.”
