Anaheim, Aug. 28, 2017/Best of Life PR/–In May of 2017, the famous Hollywood Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure reopened with a new appearance. Now, the Guardians of the Galaxy have taken over the old building with a new ride known as Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission: Breakout! The ride asks riders to help Rocket Raccoon, a Guardian of the Galaxy, help break out the rest of the Guardians from the Fortress of The Collector. The Collector, Taneleer Tivan, has a collection of artifacts and alien life forms held against their will. During Halloween, the ride will be getting yet another, smaller makeover and will be known as Guardians of the Galaxy- Monsters After Dark.

Guardians of The Galaxy-Mission: Breakout! Will be the first ride at California Adventure to have a Halloween overlay during the 2017 season.

The Monsters After Dark overlay will take the story of the original ride and pick up where the story left off. The story goes as follows: while escaping from the fortress in a hurry, Rocket realizes they have left Groot behind. Unfortunately, in releasing the Guardians of the Galaxy, all of the other monsters were let loose as well. Now, we must distract the monsters and help rescue Grott.

Joe Rohde, the creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering says, “It’s creepy, chaotic and very funny.”

During a limited engagement, Mission: Breakout! will transform into Monsters After Dark every evening. When the ride inside transforms, the outside transforms as well. New lights will be displayed on the building, alarms will sound and the surrounding areas will go dark. As guests walk through the doors they will notice flashing alarms and creepy sounds that have never been heard before. However, the Collector’s assistant will be letting guests know that everything is fine and public tours will continue through the chaos.

New songs will be played to enhance the creepy feeling of the ride. However, the songs will stick with the classic 1970’s sounds from the movies and the original ride. A special song was written by Tyler Bates in a Punk Rock genre for the ride. The song is titled “Monsters After Dark” and is sure to keep things creepy.
