Easy Crostini Bruschetta Appetizer Recipe
Bruschetta is a classic appetizer that is light and refreshing yet filled with flavor. The tomatoes are bursting with juice, and the basil gives it a flavor that everyone can truly enjoy. This easy crostini bruschetta appetizer recipe makes it so anyone can make a delicious appetizer.
Making a luxurious appetizer is easier with this crostini bruschetta appetizer recipe that packs the flavor in an easy party recipe. What is bruschetta? We all immediately think that bruschetta is the tomato mixture that you put on top of a small crostini or slice of bread.
We drizzle that tomato-topped bread with balsamic vinaigrette. But the dish actually has nothing to do with tomatoes at all. In fact, bruschetta is simply bread drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette.
You can make classic bruschetta without tomatoes by simply grilling or toasting bread, rubbing garlic on it, and then drizzling balsamic vinaigrette. The toppings have also been included in the classic versions of bruschetta as well.
But sometimes, it’s simply tomatoes, and other times it is just garlic. In fact, the name ‘bruschetta’ comes from the verb ‘bruscare,’ which is translated into English as ‘to toast.’ Where the miscommunication comes in is anyone’s guess.
But that doesn’t mean we need to rethink everything. Tomatoes and basil have long been used to top bruschetta. This entire recipe is very easy to make, and you don’t have to be classically trained to make it great.
But there is a hard part, and it is before you even step foot in the kitchen.
Easy Crostini Bruschetta Appetizer Recipe
Picking tomatoes is very important. You can absolutely use heirloom tomatoes and call it a day. You could simply dice up the tomatoes and mix them in with the rest of the ingredients.
But the skin of the tomatoes will leave a bad taste in your mouth, and the seeds will add unnecessary water to the dish. That water will make the bread go soggy faster. The only way to avoid that from happening is to peel the tomatoes and then remove the seeds before mixing them into the rest of the ingredients.
You can avoid all of that by simply using cherry tomatoes. Cherry tomato skins don’t have a bitter taste, and the seeds won’t add extra water to the dish. Ultimately, cherry tomatoes are the way to go for this easy crostini bruschetta appetizer recipe.
Vegan Appetizers
This recipe is perfect for those who have a mixed crowd at their event. The recipe includes tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinaigrette, basil, garlic, and bread. There are no animal products in this recipe.
However, some people top tomato bruschetta with parmesan cheese. This is an easy idea that adds another layer of flavor to the dish. But we decided to keep the cheese out of this recipe.
Of course, that is always an option for those who prefer to add it, but it’s not necessary. You may even find that you enjoy adding other toppings or ingredients like mozzarella or ricotta. The choice is yours, but cheese in any form is not necessary for the dish.
Crostini Bruschetta Appetizer Recipe Ingredients
The ingredients for this recipe are just as easy to cook as it will be for any chef of any level. The tomatoes will be the most important aspect of this recipe. We already know that cherry tomatoes will be the easiest.
But ultimately, you can use whatever type of tomatoes you’d like. The next important ingredient is the balsamic vinaigrette. You can choose your favorite or make your own. Lastly, you will need crostinis for the actual bruschetta part of the recipe.
If you’re making your own balsamic vinaigrette, you will need some more ingredients. The vinaigrette needs more ingredients than the dish itself. It is obviously much easier to make this dish with store-bought vinaigrette. But fresh is a nice touch.
